SEASON 3

THE KODA ERA

SINCE OCTOBER 10, 2026 — 11:13 AM PACIFIC

A new era begins. Every Elo reset. Every player begins at 1500 Elo. Defeat stronger opponents to climb faster and complete at least 10 games to earn an official rank.

THE BACK STORY

YEAR 1 OF THE KODA ERA

In the year 1 of the Koda Era, the old universe was dying.

Two seasons of war had burned through it. Every Elo had been fought for, every rank defended, every streak broken and rebuilt — until there was nothing left to take. The Race for Power had been run. Power Without Allies had been won. The Star Battle universe had grown still.

Then Master Yangwenli climbed to the heavens.

Nobody knows what he offered the Star Battle Holy Gods. Some say his crown from the old ladder. Some say every victory he had ever earned. Some say the Gods asked for nothing at all — and that is what frightened them most.

But a deal was struck.

And at midnight, the heavens cracked open and a new universe poured through: Universe 5.4.

The Gods remade the battlefield to their own design. Balance was rewritten. The old meta — every trick, every timing, every path to power that the veterans had memorised — was erased with it. Nothing that was learned in the old universe is guaranteed to work in the new one.

And the Gods set one condition on their gift:

Every Elo returns to 1500.

Champion and newcomer stand on the same ground. No throne survived the crossing. No stone survived the crossing. The Five Stones were scattered again across the new universe, waiting to be claimed.

Teams are still drawn at random. Allies are still strangers. Only your ability crossed over with you — and only your ability will carry you now.

This is the Koda Era. Universe 5.4 is young, and its first ruler has not yet been named.

Collect all five Stones. Defend them. Overcome those who stand in your way.

And become THE ONE — the first Ruler of the Koda Era.

The intro film on the home page tells this story one line at a time.

HOW ELO WORKS
  • Everyone starts at 1500. Results from earlier seasons give no head start.
  • Stronger opponents are worth more. Beat a team rated above you and you gain more than 16 points; lose to them and you drop less.
  • Weaker opponents are worth less. Beating a lower-rated team earns fewer points, and losing to one costs more.
  • Elo starts at game 1. Every Season 3 game moves your rating, even before you are ranked.
  • An official rank needs 10 games. Until then you are listed as provisional, with your current Elo.

Each game compares your Elo with the average Elo of the opposing team: expected = 1 / (1 + 10(opponent average − your Elo) / 400). Win: Elo + 32 × (1 − expected). Loss: Elo + 32 × (0 − expected). Changes are rounded to whole points, and everyone's change in a game is worked out from the ratings before that game.

Only tracked players are known, so a team is the tracked players who won (or lost) the same game. When none of the other team is tracked, the opponents are treated as equal to you (expected 0.5, so ±16).

SEASON 3 RULES
  • Season start: October 10, 2026 — 11:13 AM Pacific. Games before then belong to Season 2 and do not count here.
  • Starting Elo: 1500 for every player: existing, returning and new.
  • 10-game minimum: an official rank needs 10 Season 3 games.
  • Highest Elo wins. Official ranks go by Elo; ties are broken by Season 3 win %, then games played, then name.
  • Provisional players (1–9 games) have a live Elo but no rank number. Reaching game 10 keeps the Elo you have earned.
  • Teams are random. Win trading, throwing games and rigged lobbies are cheating.
